UMG'S HYPERION STARTS STREAMING
Classical label Hyperion Records, acquired by Universal Music Group four months ago, has released 200 albums from its catalogon streaming services today.
With the goal of releasing the entire catalog of 2,000+ recordings by spring 2024, batches will be reissued to streaming services every two weeks beginning 9/15. Today’s assortment includes Gothic Voices’ Hildegard of Bingen recording, A feather on the breath of God; The Cardinall’s Musick’s recording of music by William Byrd, Infelix ego; and Stephen Hough’s piano works by Federico Mompou.

In addition to the catalog releases, Hyperion has made three of its newest releases available for streaming: a Dvořák album from Takács Quartet; a collection of choral anthems from Stephen Layton and Trinity College Choir Cambridge; and a new issue in The Orlando Consort’s survey of France’s Guillaume de Machaut.
The second phase of will showcase piano and keyboard stars such as Danny Driver, Stephen Hough and Mahan Esfahani, ensuring that each featured artist’s complete discography will be available on all streaming platforms.
