DEVINE INTERVENTION

Veteran label exec Tim Devine is already hard at work in his new gig as head of A&R at Len Fico’s Sunset Blvd Records.

Of his first round of inkings to the label, including first-gen alternative bands Everclear, Fastball and Butthole Surfers, Devine says, “These are exactly the kinds of groups we are looking to sign—acts who remain active with fan and touring bases and are still writing and recording vital new material as they continue to expand their audiences.”

In the 6/21 announcement, Fico proclaimed, “Tim has been and continues to be one of the most successful, respected and creative A&R executives in the business. His relationships and track record are second to none. We are fortunate to have him joining our efforts to expand the reach and roster of Sunset Blvd Records.”

“I’m having so much fun and I’m totally into it,” says Devine, adding with a laugh, “Everyone is taking my calls, and this position fits my skill set like a glove. I’ve always kept my nose in the music business, and the foundation here gives me a platform on which to build the next chapter of SBR’s success.”

Devine entered the biz as a college promotion rep at A&M while attending UC Berkeley. Upon graduation, he enrolled in the first and only executive-training program at Warner Bros. Records, where he then became a product manager before moving to MCA. From there, Devine served as VP of A&R at Capitol and GM of Columbia’s West Coast operations. After leaving label land, he entered the technology sector.
