PRIMARY TALENT REGAINS INDIE STATUS

U.K. agency Primary Talent is once again independent; the firm, which represents The 1975, Lana Del Rey, The Cure, Noel Gallagher, Ziggy Marley, Mitski and Patti Smith, among others, has exited its partnership with CAA.

Primary Talent was acquired by ICM in 2020 and in turn by CAA in the latter's purchase of ICM, for $750m in 2022. CAA agreed to terminate Primary's partnership earlier this year in a deal facilitated by Primary CEO Matt Bates and former ICM founding partner/COO Rick Levy.

Said Bates, “The pandemic changed the landscape of the touring business, and we felt it was beneficial to return to our roots as the U.K.’s largest independent music agency. In this new incarnation, Primary will be even better positioned to support the evolving careers of our artists and guide them wherever needed.”
