Gunpowder & Sky studios has inked a multiyear, multi-project development and production deal with Audible. G&S will provide the Amazon subsidiary with a first look at its rapidly expanding slate of audio initiatives in music, pop culture, sports, scripted programming, wellness, investigative content and true crime.
Among the companies' most recent joint projects is “In the Cut With Ghetto Gastro,” an eight-episode Audible Original podcast on which Gunpowder & Sky served as executive producer. Created and presented by the culinary collective of Jon Gray, Pierre Serrao and Lester Walker, Ghetto Gastro takes listeners through the origins and legacy of food culture in the Bronx. G&S and Audible are also working on “Lighters in the Sky” and “Shelved,” which will bring music stories to the masses.
The expanded arrangement builds on the entities' longstanding collaborative relationship, which has resulted in several installments for Audible’s “Words + Music” franchise; the partnership has generated G&S-produced Audible musical narratives by the likes of Chuck D, Beck, Eddie Vedder, Pete Townshend, Billie Joe Armstrong, Sheryl Crow, St. Vincent, Smokey Robinson, Alanis Morissette and Gary Clark Jr.
