SOUND + VISION: A NEW ROLE AT UMG

Roey Hershkovitz, who has been overseeing Capitol Studios recording activity, is taking on a new role at Universal Music Group: VP of Sound & Picture. He will manage visual-content capture for the company’s studios and develop new programming.

He will work with Head of Video Services Joe McCrossan to develop new strategies for multimedia services and capabilities.

Hershkovitz has also been named head of West Coast Studios, in which capacity he'll continue to run Capitol Studios and handle the facility’s ongoing renovation. He was likewise appointed to UMG’s Audio Leadership team to drive creative innovation and audio quality, including Dolby Atmos Music adoption in a wide range of consumer products.

“Roey has that rare combination of deep creative relationships and instincts, technical chops and a deep passion for both music and visual content,” said one of his bosses, EVP of Digital Studios Christopher Jenkins.

His other boss, SVP of Recording Studios & Archive Management Pat Kraus, said, “This new role recognizes Roey’s broader contributions to operating our cutting-edge studios, which provide unmatched resources for recording artists and songwriters to be their most creative. Roey continues to play a key role in driving audio innovation and the broader adoption of immersive audio across studio, consumer-product and creative communities.”

Hershkovitz previously served as VP of Capitol Studios & Digital Studios, marshaling Capitol Studios’ recording, tracking, mixing and mastering operations and label relations and expanded the studios’ audio-visual aptitude by integrating new technology.

Prior to joining Capitol Studios, Hershkovitz spent two decades working for Conan O’Brien’s multiple talk shows as a booker, producer and music-production supervisor. We're hoping he'll get us Lisa Loeb's autograph.
