Lisa Marie Presley, the only child of Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley, died Thursday (1/13) after suffering a cardiac arrest at her home in Calabasas, Calif. She was 54.
News of her death arrived shortly after Priscilla confirmed she'd been rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. “It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us,” she said in a statement. “She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known.”
A recording artist who released three albums, Lisa Marie earlier this week attended the Golden Globes, where Austin Butler, who portrayed her father in Baz Luhrmann's Elvis, received the award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama.
Presley, who owned her father’s Memphis estate, Graceland, and 15% of Elvis Presley Enterprises, started her music career in her mid-30s, recording two pop-rock albums for Capitol in 2003 and 2005. In 2012, Island released Storm and Grace, a T Bone Burnett-produced set that found inspiration in the blues and country that had also informed her father’s early work.
