DEAL REACHED FOR CHUCK D CATALOG

Reach Music Publishing has acquired a 50% copyright interest with 100% of the writer's share, including global admin rights, in Chuck D's catalog. The deal includes more than 300 songs written by the Public Enemy frontman, including the '90s anthems "Fight the Power," "Bring the Noise" and "Shut 'Em Down."

The acquisition covers 25 years of songwriting from one of hip-hop's most revolutionary voices, from PE's 1987 debut, Yo! Bum Rush the Show (Def Jam/Columbia), and incendiary follow-up It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back (Def Jam/Columbia) to Fear of a Black Planet (Def Jam/Columbia) and Apocalypse 91...The Enemy Strikes Black (Def Jam/Columbia).

"There's no one more consequential in the world of hip-hop than Chuck D," declared Reach prexy/founder Michael Closter (he's the one in the glasses). "He has written iconic and impactful songs that will forever be a part of music history. The team at Reach will continue working hard to protect these works while also introducing them to generations to come.”

Chuck D was represented in the transaction by attorneys Doug Mark and Jared Tankel of Mark Music & Media Law, P.C., his longtime manager, Lorrie Boula of Soul Kitchen, and his business manager, Scott Adair of London & Company LLP. Reach Music was represented by attorney Jeff Sacharow of The Sacharow Firm, P.C.
