HALFTIME LVI, ADELE, STRANGER THINGS SCORE EMMYS

The Super Bowl LVI Pepsi Halftime Show, CBS Adele special, the music supervisor for Netflix’s Stranger Things, Peter Jackson’s Beatles doc, the composers for HBO’s White Lotus and Apple+’s Severance and one of the songwriters behind Schmigadoon! were all winners during the two nights of the Creative Arts Emmys, 9/3-4.

The Super Bowl LVI Pepsi Halftime Show (NBC)—curated by Team Interscope—memorably presented a low-ridin', blunt-smokin' medley by Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent and Mary J. Blige. It earned gongs for Outstanding Variety Special (Live) and Outstanding Production Design for a Variety Special.

Adele: One Night Only (CBS) undoubtedly made network EVP, Specials, Music & Live Events Jack Sussman very happy, winning the award for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded). The event, which aired 11/14, drew 12 million viewers, making it the biggest music broadcast in years.

Nora Felder took home the music-supervision trophy for an episode of Stranger Things that featured Kate Bush’s 1985 song “Running Up That Hill,” which led to its newfound popularity this year.

The Beatles: Get Back from Disney+ won Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series, The White Lotus Cristobal Tapia de Veer won for Main Title Theme Music, Theodore Shapiro received the Dramatic Score award for Severance and Cinco Paul’s “Corn Puddin’” from Schmigadoon! was honored with the Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics prize.

The Creative Arts Emmys will air in full 9/10 on FXX.
