SISTER ROSETTA STRIKES A CHORD
Primo guitar maker Gibson, whose 1961 SG was famously hoisted by Rock 'n' Roll Godmother Sister Rosetta Tharpe, is celebrating this musical innovator with reissued axes, merch and a history lesson.
Sister Rosetta, who blended gospel fervor with blues bite and helped pave the way, as both singer and player, for the rock 'n' roll revolution, is profiled in the Giibson-presented video below.
Those of you with a copious guitar budget will want to check out the fully outfitted reissue '61 SG here and the Epiphone model here; you'll find various less extravagant items celebrating Sister Rosetta here. The SRT campaign was overseen by Gibson-affiliated artists Celisse and Amythyst Kiah.
