Imran Majid and Justin Eshak have brought Jhared “Jae” Brown to Island Records as Vice President, A&R.
The label’s Co-CEOs, to whom Brown will report, see him as a key player in the label’s future. Said Eshak, “Jae brings a unique vision as an A&R with great marketing expertise, which will be an instrumental part of defining the Island Records roster.” Majid said, “Jae is widely known for his artist-first philosophy, a credo we take very seriously at Island as we strive to build on the label’s entrepreneurial spirit and live up to our commitment to breaking new artists across every genre.”
Brown spent the last two years as VP of A&R at indie Rostrum Records, where he signed Rich the Kid and developed Taleban Dooda and DC the Don. Prior to that, he was at Capitol Records/Motown, serving for two years in a dual A&R/global marketing role.
Brown began his music career in 2015, spending three years in a hybrid product management/A&R position at Interscope, where he was part of the team behind Kendrick Lamar's DAMN
Jae was once in Noisemakers, which, remarkably, hasn’t stalled his career.
