CLIO MUSIC AWARDS ANNOUNCES WINNERS

The Clio Music Awards has announced the full list of winners from its 2020/2021 virtual awards ceremony and inaugural Clio Music of the Year Awards.

Presented by Citi for the sixth consecutive year, the Clio Music Awards recognizes excellence in creative work for the marketing or promotion of an artist, label, music brand, product or service, as well as the use of music in advertising.

This year the virtual ceremony awarded its inaugural Label, Publisher and Agency of the Year awards. Taking home the award for Label of the Year was Republic, while Sony Music Publishing was named Music Publisher of the Year and Spotify In-House received the Agency of the Year Award.

Five Clio juries awarded 10 Grand Clio Music trophies as well as an array of Gold, Silver and Bronze statues for a total of 240 awards across 26 mediums.

Spotify In-House also received the Design Award for “The Decade Wrapped”; Republic won the Integrated Campaign Award for "The Weeknd After Hours Album Campaign" by XO/Republic; The Recording Academy picked up the Use of Music in Audio Award for “2% Choir” by TBWAChiatDay LA; and Epic Games/Fortnite were awarded the Experience/Activation Award for "Travis Scott’s Astronomical Event."

Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Brandi Carlile and the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA) were honored as recipients of the 2021 Clio Music Impact Awards. Citi CMO Carla Hassan presented Carlile’s award; Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer presented the NIVA organization with its award.

Said Clio President Nicole Purcell, "This year our juries evaluated esteemed work that really met the moment during a time of uncertainty and change. We received impressive submissions from all around the world, many of which put a spotlight on the power of music to connect, inspire and soothe us—even during difficult times.”

Added Michael Kauffman, Director of Clio Music, “The Clio Music Awards were launched to recognize excellence and the kind of rich work that leaves its mark on the industry for years to come. Music enhances the message and the impact of everything it touches—ads, films, social media—and our award winners are remarkable examples of that power."

Said Brian Monaco, President, Global CMO, SMP, “On behalf of all of us at Sony Music Publishing, we are honored to accept Clio Music’s inaugural Publisher of the Year Award. We're incredibly grateful to our songwriters—whose work was at the heart of this year’s most powerful and poignant campaigns. I also want to thank our entire sync family, as well as Nicole, Michael and the Clio Music team, for recognizing how great songs enhance brands’ storytelling.”
