New York-based radio promotion firm Skateboard Marketing Ltd., headed by music industry vet Munsey Ricci, is marking 30 years of taking heavy metal and hard rock music to the airwaves. RAWK!
Ricci founded Skateboard in 1991 after a stint at Polygram Records, where he created the first metal radio department for the label and all of its affiliates, including Mercury, Polydor, RooArt and London, where the artist roster included bands like Rush, Kiss, The Scorpions and Mortal Sin.
Skateboard’s clients is who’s who of the metal world, pushing songs from Motörhead, Overkill, Testament, Judas Priest, Ronnie James Dio, Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne, among others.
“Time seems to fly when you’re having fun,” says Ricci just before executing a flawless Casper Flip. “Every morning I get up and still live to walk into the office and do this gig. I just don't get tired of it and need more!”
“Munsey and Skateboard Marketing do what they do because they LOVE IT,” says SiriusXM’s Jose “Metal Ambassador” Mangin. “There’s no one in the world as seasoned and dedicated to the art of metal promotion. I’ve been helping Munsey spread the good gospel of metal for 25 years, and we’re both just getting started! Congrats on 30 f’in years of dominance! I just wish they stop doing Acid Drops off the roof of my Prius.”
