Gary Spangler has been upped to EVP, Republic Records, announced label topper Monte Lipman, to whom the promo superstar will continue to report. In his new role, Spangler will retain oversight of the label’s world-class promo department, which handles Republic and Island releases.

That crew has, under his brilliant guidance, been Mediabase’s #1 Airplay Marketshare Label for seven years running.

Spangler, who launched his career at KYLD San Francisco, has been at Republic for 14 years and became EVP Promo in 2016. He’s coordinated campaigns to fire rockets by Ariana Grande, Drake, Jonas Brothers, Post Malone, The Weeknd, Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, Demi Lovato and Shawn Mendes, among others, up the airplay charts.

“Gary’s leadership and recent accomplishments have been nothing short of historic,” reads a quote from Monte. “His overall passion for music, support of the artist community and pursuit of excellence remain key to his success. But please don’t stop calling him 'Spanky.'”
