Global sensation Bad Bunny, Spotify's most-streamed artist of 2020, makes history with El Último Tour del Mundo (Rimas), his third album of the year, as the Puerto Rican superstar’s new LP becomes the first-ever all-Spanish project to top the album chart, debuting at #1 on the HITS Top 50, with 114k.
Entering at #2 is Miley Cyrus’ rock-leaning Plastic Hearts (RCA), with 57k. Last week’s chart-topper, BTS’ BE (Big Hit/Columbia), clears 50k its second week. Ariana Grande’s Positions (Republic) remains in the Top 5 its fourth week, as Ari's labelmate Taylor Swift recharges folklore by adding music from her Disney+ film, folklore: the long pond studio sessions, to the album.
Holiday music attacks the Top 50 this week, with 18 Christmas albums making the chart. Michael Bublé’s Christmas (Reprise) leads, moving up to #8, followed by Carrie Underwood’s My Gift (Capitol Nashville) at #9. Seasonal giants Pentatonix land two albums in the Top 30.
As for marketshare, SME edges out UMG thanks to The Orchard's Bad Bunny triumph and the onslaught of Christmas titles. Streeting this week are projects from Island’s Shawn Mendes, Locomotion/Interscope’s YUNGBLUD and Republic’s Aminé.
How are you getting ready for the holidays? In lieu of a HITS holiday party this year, the team is having a daily bake-off—first one to get baked before the sun goes down wins. See the full chart here.
