U.K. CHARTS: DOUBLE DOSE OF ARI

Ariana Grande has done the double on the U.K.’s Official Charts, with Positions (Island) topping albums with sales of 27,500 and “positions" sticking at #1 on Singles for a second week.

After racking up 27.6m streams this week, Positions is Grande’s fourth consecutive #1 on the Official Albums Chart.

“positions,” meanwhile, is merely one of three entries for Grande in the Top 20: “34+35” is #9; “Motive” f/Doja Cat is #16. This takes her tally of U.K. Top 40 hits to 28.

Grande is the fourth artist to achieve the chart double in 2020—following Drake, Eminem and Stormzy—and it’s the second time she has achieved the feat. She’s the first female artist to score consecutive chart-double wins in almost 10 years.

Elsewhere on Albums, Sam Smith’s Love Goes (Capitol) is new at #2, followed by Cliff Richard with Music … The Air That I Breathe (East West/Rhino) at #3. Richard is the first artist ever to score a Top 5 album in eight consecutive decades.

On the Official Singles Chart, Wes Nelson & Hardy Caprio’s “See Nobody” (EMI) climbs to a new peak of #3, and “Diamonds,” by Sam Smith, jumps six places to a new high at #11.

A big new entry this week comes from Tion Wayne f/Mist; titled “Deluded” (Atlantic), it started at #26.
