SONY/ATV TAKES TOP BMI R&B/HIP-HOP HONORS

Sony/ATV Music Publishing took home Publisher of the Year at the virtual 2020 BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards for the second consecutive year.

With songs like Khalid’s “Better,” Lizzo’s “Good As Hell,” A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie’s “Look Back at It,” Cardi B’s “Money” and Ella Mai’s “Trip,” Sony/ATV’s winning songwriters for best performing songs also included Frank Dukes, Ricky Reed, Lil Nas X, Lil Tjay, Ray Romulus and more.

Additionally, Khalid won the Song of the Year award for his crossover hit “Talk,” which is his second top honor from BMI this year following his Songwriter of the Year award at the Pop Awards. London On Da Track was also named one of BMI’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop producers.

“We’re grateful to receive the Publisher of the Year award for the second year in a row – this award reflects the incredible talent and creativity of Sony/ATV songwriters as they continue to be leaders in R&B/Hip-Hop. I also would like to thank BMI for recognizing our team and giving songwriters these well-deserved honors,” shared Sony/ATV Chairman and CEO Jon Platt.
