NEXT UP: BEABADOOBEE

Many of those who follow the indie scene—including our resident expert, Karen Glauber—are saying next U.K. artist to break here will be beabadoobee, a 20-year-old Filipino raised in London whose given name is Beatrice Kristi Laus. Powfu’s hit “coffee for my head” sampled her song “Coffee.” Her new song, “Care,” is at 1m streams and counting.

The music is ’90s alt, and she’s the 60th most-streamed artist on Spotify worldwide. She's signed to Dirty Hit, the U.K. label for The 1975, with Ingrooves distributing, and management is Dirty Hit’s Jamie Oborne. They’ll be going for adds at Alternative in August, and “Care” is already #1 at NonComm and Specialty, with a huge buzz behind it here in the States.
