Instagram live series Verzuz has tapped Columbia's John Legend and RCA's Alicia Keys for a special Juneteenth piano battle. The popular quarantine series will air its first Friday episode in honor of the holiday.
Watch it on Legend and Keys' Instagram accounts at 8pm ET on 6/19. Legend and Keys follow previous Verzuz headliners Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Ludacris, Nelly, Babyface, Teddy Riley and creators Timbaland and Swizz Beatz.
Legend recently described the showdown: "It’s just Alicia and I live, playing pianos, face-to-face. It’s called a battle of the pianos, but, so far, the best of these Verzuz experiences are where the artists have love for each other and respect for each other. That’s what I feel for Alicia; she’s my sister. I love her as a person and as an artist. We’ve worked together, We’ve written together. We’ve toured together. There’s so much mutual respect between us, and I think we’re going to give our fan base something special and apt for Juneteenth."
