Spotify has officially gone to the dogs, and cats, and even hamsters, with Wednesday's announcement of a warm and fuzzy new feature—Pet Playlists.
Users can pick their pet type by selecting Dog, Cat, Iguana, Bird or Hamster, and then adjust sliders between Relaxed or Energetic, Shy or Friendly, and Apathetic or Curious for a customized result. Next step is to add a photo and pet name, and then after syncing algorithmically with the user's taste and listening history, a playlist is generated for the user and their pet to enjoy together. The playlist is automatically added to the user's list of playlists, both in the app and on the web version.
Snoop Dogg, Temple of the Dog and Three Dog Night were unavailable for comment at presstime.
