Michael McDonald joined The Doobie Brothers Monday night at the Ryman Auditorium for the announcement that the band will be heading out on a 30-city North American tour next summer to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the band’s founding.
The tour will unite McDonald with founding members Tom Johnston, Pat Simmons and John McFee for the first time in nearly 25 years. The Live Nation-produced tour starts 6/9 in West Palm Beach, Fla., and includes a Northern California homecoming show at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View on 9/12.
The Doobies return to Nashville for a 6/17 show at Bridgestone Arena and will play The Forum on 9/18. Tickets go on sale to the general public on 12/6.
Promoters collective fingers are crossed they’ll be able to market the band as Rock and Roll Hall of Famers; they’ll find out in early December if they’re getting inducted.
