STEREO HONEY RACKS UP A W

After lapping up the Warner Music's office supply of mead, Stereo Honey and the W Songs crew dive into the champers and ales.

London band Stereo Honey are the first act to sign a long term publishing deal with W Songs, the in-house publishing arm of Warner Music U.K.'s sync team. The agreement expands upon their distribution deal with ADA and will see Warner offer sync opportunities as well as access to marketing, distribution, and other resources within the major's global network.

“Our relationship will allow us to work with them on sync but also help them grow and develop as artists,” said Tim Miles, VP of Sync at Warner Music U.K. “Sync has become an incredibly important part of the music business. For us to be able to adapt, evolve and be nimble enough to create bespoke deals like this only adds to value that Warner Music can offer artists.”

W Songs has traditionally offered short-term deals, typically three to six months, with a heavy focus on securing sync placements. Set up in 2017 as an alternative to traditional music publishing, the company focuses on sync placements for its writers in shows such as Love Island, EastEnders, PlayStation and TK Maxx, and provides songwriters with access to writer support, session coordination and collection by Warner Chappell Music U.K. W Songs also works closely with ADA to provide label services for writers looking for distribution.

“We’ve worked with Tim and the W Songs team for some time now and have achieved great sync results,” said Hide Whone, Stereo Honey co-manager alongside Anthony Crook at Theory Management. “Entering into the band’s debut album campaign, we’re really pleased that we are the first artist to sign a long term deal. We’ve always really respected the W Songs model and what they are creating.”

The South London quartet’s new single, "You Are a Monster," arrived on 10/4. It’s being distributed through ADA via the band's label deal with LAB Records. They have released two EPs to date—2017’s Monuments and 2018’s What Makes You a Man.
