CAA INKS K-POP SPECIALISTS SM ENT

CAA announced 11/4 that it has signed SM Entertainment, a leading Korean entertainment and lifestyle company, for representation in all areas.

Founded in 1995 by Soo-Man Lee, Seoul-based SM Entertainment is a preeminent K-pop management company, representing NCT 127, EXO, Super Junior, Red Velvet, Girls’ Generation and SuperM, among others. More than 20m people have attended SM Entertainment concerts across the globe, and their YouTube channel has more than 28b views.

“Seeing an SM Entertainment show is an amazing experience,” said CAA President Richard Lovett. “Soo-Man Lee and his talented team have an incredible eye for high energy and charismatic talent. We are honored and excited to be working with the incredible SM team to support the growth of what is already a huge fan base around the world. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go put some band posters up on my wall.”

Executive Producer of SM Entertainment Soo-Man Lee said, “It is a great pleasure working together with the largest entertainment and sports agency in the US. This contract is only the beginning of our collaborations, and as an executive producer, I am hoping to contribute to our forthcoming global entertainment business by providing new visions and by creating more meaningful content.”

The signing formalizes a relationship between the two companies, with CAA recently brokering a series of promotional events for K-pop headliners NCT 127 including an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden and an upcoming North American tour for Super M, an all-star group that has already logged a #1 chart debut.

CAA will also explore opportunities with SM Entertainment’s other industry leading groups, including live events, advertising, food and beverage, and lifestyle brands.

Inspired by Super M's short-term Hollywood merch outlet, HITS attempted to open a pop-up store, but we were quickly asked to pop down.
