BOB KINGSLEY,
1939-2019

Country radio personality Bob Kingsley died Thursday at his home in Weatherford, Texas, just eight days after he announced he had bladder cancer. He was 80.

The voice of Bob Kingsley’s Country Top 40, he spent more than six decades in radio beginning on Armed Forces Radio when he was 18 and stationed in Iceland.

He DJ’s at L.A.’s KLAC in Los Angeles before becoming a producer of American Country Countdown in the 1970s that Casey Kasem started as a country twist on his pop chart show. The baritone-voiced Kingsley took over in 1978 and was host of the show for nearly 30 years.

In 2006, he started Bob Kingsley's Country Top 40, which is heard on more than 300 stations worldwide. He was elected to the National Radio Hall of Fame in 2016.

A celebration of Kingsley's life will be held at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville on 11/14.
