MARY ELLEN CATANEO,
1954-2019

Sony Music and Columbia Records publicity executive Mary Ellen Cataneo died Wednesday of cancer. She was 64.

Cataneo rose to Senior Vice President at Sony Music in 1993 after nearly a decade at Columbia where she worked on projects by Bruce Springsteen, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Harry Connick Jr. and others. She left Sony in 1995 to raise her two sons.

At Sony, where she worked for Tommy Mottola, Cataneo was charge of all corporate communications and was also active in strategic planning of campaigns. She started at Columbia in 1984 after working for Musician magazine.
