IS AN ALL-STAR EVENT IN RESPONSE TO GUN VIOLENCE ON THE WAY?

Rumors abound that a major “unifying” event in response to recent gun violence is in the offing, which could involve top-tier artists from across the musical spectrum. Word has it that the agenda would be focused on bringing together disparate voices in pursuit of positive change.

One key artist manager is said to have gotten the ball rolling, and several other important biz players are believed to be circling the event, which could expand its scope considerably.

Which artists may be in? Much speculation has centered on Imagine Dragons, as frontman Dan Reynolds has been vocal on the socials about the importance of such an event. The Killers are also believed by several observers to be on the short list (read about their passionate indictment of the status quo, "Land of the Free," here). What about Lana Del Rey, whose recent single “Looking for America” addressed this issue, and Kacey Musgraves, who also chimed in about the need for change?

Musgraves is one of the only high-profile Nashville acts to hazard a pro-gun-control stance in public recently, as many of her contemporaries—though sympathetic—have remained silent for fear of backlash from the pro-gun country base.

Rumors are flying that a Dayton stadium date in October is on hold. Stay tuned.

El Paso native Khalid, as we reported recently, is holding a benefit for the victims of the mass shooting there on 9/1; details on that in the “related stories” link below.
