As rumored last year, Ayelet Schiffman will be heading up Island’s promotion teams across all formats in her new job as Senior Vice President, Head of Promotion for the label. Based in New York, she will report directly to Island COO Eric Wong.
“As Island Records continues to grow and take shape, a key element of every artist’s success is the staff’s dedication to their music,” said Island President Darcus Beese. “Ayelet has shown that she possesses an intuitive and strategic approach to radio and it is crystal clear she will make a significant impact at Island.”
Schiffman spent 24 years at Sony Music, most recently as Columbia Records’ SVP of Rhythm & Dance Promotion. Over the past several years at the label, she has been instrumental in the radio success of Beyoncé, J. Cole, Pharrell, John Legend, Adele and others.
“Ayelet has an incredible reputation and track record of success in the industry,” Wong said. “She’s a visionary with creativity and skill, which make her an extraordinary addition to the Island family.”
In carrying out her new duties, Ayelet will work closely with Republic’s promotion staff in their radio partnership with Island. She'll also be carrying on the search for Chris Blackwell's old stash.
