A few months back, Spotify added a beta feature in the Spotify for Artists tool that gives artists, labels, and management teams the ability to share new music directly with their editorial team for playlist consideration.
Since the feature became available, more than 67k artists and labels have submitted music, with more than 10k artists being added to Spotify editorial playlists for the first time.
Now the playlist submission feature is officially out of beta.
The best examples of how this functionality works are Gustavo Bertoni’s song “Be Here Now,” selected to appear on the Acoustic Morning and Fresh Folk playlists, seeing monthly listeners jump from 7k to 617k streams, while alt-rock band Yonaka from Brighton in the UK, saw their numbers increase from 82k to a whopping 290k when they were added to New Music Friday. And Belgian rapper Bryan Mg shot up to 33k monthly listeners up from 4.6k after landing on the La Vida Loca playlist.
“After the first release got picked up by Spotify I think about a month later I got my first booking for a club show,” recalls Mg about the key add. “I also received invitations for radio stations in the Netherlands and in Belgium and saw my followers on Instagram and Spotify get a boost.”
To celebrate officially coming out of beta and to better show how the playlisting works, Spotify created a couple new episodes of their original series, The Game Plan. Check it out for a deep dive on the new programs. And speaking of playlists, check out HITS' Spotify playlists, including Vibe, Fresh & New and Alternative Route, here.
