Amazon is expected to announce a free, ad-supported video service on Fire TV. The new service will feature TV shows and movies, similar to Hulu and The Roku Channel.
The move is Amazon's attempt at opening a new revenue stream from the TV advertising market. Although commercials already appear on content on Fire TV apps, the new offering will lure marketers by providing access to its proprietary data and expansive wrap ads.
The service will be available to all Fire TV users, not just Amazon Prime Video users.
