In a blog post today, Instagram announced that they are introducing music in Instagram Stories. With music added to the Stories feature, now used by 400 million every day, you "can add a soundtrack to your story that fits any moment and helps you express how you’re feeling." What are some songs that say, "Bleccchhhh?" Asking for a friend.
Users will be able to access a music library with "thousands of songs," and will be able to select the exact part of the song that fits their story.
Friends watching stories with music will hear the song playing and they're viewing and will see a "sticker" showing the song title and artist name.
This announcement follows the previous announcements of IGTV and integration with Spotify, allowing users to share music directly (via link, not audio) from the Spotify app to Instagram Stories.
The new feature is currently only available on iOS, with Android coming soon.
In other news, social media platforms are definitely not turning us into soulless automatons who are carrying out the Skynet agenda.
