Rapper XXXtentacion has been killed in a shooting in Florida. The Broward County Sheriff's Department confirmed the news that TMZ first reported.
The embattled rapper, who was awaiting trial on domestic-violence charges, was shopping for motorcycles at the time of the shooting in Deerfield Beach. TMZ reports that he was rushed to a Broward County hospital. He was pronounced dead at 5:40pm local time, according to the Sheriff's Department.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office said he was most likely a robbery victim. Two armed men approached his matte black BMW i8 around 4pm and at least one shot and killed him.
XXXTentacion emerged in late 2015 with the two-minute track “Look at Me!” that he uploaded to SoundCloud. Its popularity established him as the first star of the raw and noisy style tagged SoundCloud Rap.
He rapped about crimes he had committed and his life in juvenile detention centers. Allegations and criminal charges against him led to Spotify removing his music from its playlists for a short while under its "public hate content and hateful conduct policy." Since changing the policy, his music has been restored to the likes of RapCaviar.
Bad Vibes Forever/Empire officially released “Look at Me!” in February 2017 and it became a Top 40 hit. He recorded his debut album ? while on house arrest and it debuted at #1 in March. A judge suspended his house arrest to allow him to tour this year.
