LIGHTS ON FOR SONY

Word has it that Dooney Battle’s Tha Lights Global—which gained headlines as management and imprint for hip-hop breakout Lil Pump—is inking a new label deal with Sony Music. The deal is said to enable the company to put records out through any of Sony’s labels or distribution platforms. TLG’s roster boasts an array of young, mostly hip-hop artists and producers; it has excelled at establishing a big social footprint for its acts.

Battle, one of the top up-and-coming execs in the business, has a strong understanding of the streaming marketplace's new algorithms and how to make them work; many believe he also has the musical chops to make TLG a vital brand.

Lil Pump, it should be noted, has done about 755k all in, with 385m Spotify streams for his smash “Gucci Gang” alone. Stay tuned.
