Nicki Minaj’s two new songs, “Chun-LI” and “Barbie Tingz" (YMCMB), have raced to #1 and #2 on the iTunes songs chart and #3 and #4 at Apple Music this flipover Friday. And on this Friday the 13th, a country album has a rare showing: Top 20 at Apple Music.
The week’s other major song releases are right under Minaj. Carrie Underwood’s Wednesday release, “Cry Pretty” (Capitol Records Nashville), is #4 and ZAYN’s “Let Me” (RCA) is #8 following its release Thursday.
Over at albums on iTunes, Hollywood rock band Breaking Benjamin sees its sixth LP Ember spark a fire at #1. Their last album, 2015’s Dark Before Dawn, debuted at #1.
At #2 on iTunes— and #16 on Apple Music—is Jason Aldean’s Rearview Town (Broken Bow). His single “You Make it Easy,” which he will be promoting heavily in the coming week, is #10.
Pentatonix’s PTX Presents: Top Pop, Vol. 1 (RCA), featuring their takes on “Havana,” “Despacito” and other recent hits, is #4 followed by John Prine’s first album of all new material in nearly 13 years, The Tree of Forgiveness (Oh Boy), at #6 and Ledger’s six-song Ledger EP (Atlantic) at #7.
RCA’s second entry in the Top 10 is Tinashe’s third album, Joyride, at #8 with Outlaw’s Backwoods Badass (Outlaw) closing out the Top 10.
On Apple Music’s album chart, Young Thug’s three-track Hear No Evil (300/Atlantic) is #7. Bless Yo Trap (Alamo/Interscope) from Smokepurpp & Murda Beazt is the top newcomer among full-lengths. It’s #15.
