U.K. MIDWEEKS: A FIRST FOR TAYLOR

Taylor Swift is looking at her first-ever U.K. #1 single on the Official Singles Chart, as “Look What You Made Me Do” (Virgin EMI) has notched up 20k downloads and 2.4m streams so far in Blighty. That’s a combined tally of 36k.

Over on albums, Queens of the Stone Age are outselling their nearest rival, The War on Drugs, by 3:1.

Swift’s single is on track to better her string of #2 hits: “Love Story,” “I Knew You Were Trouble” and “Shake It Off.” She has two U.K. #1 albums to her name—Red and 1989—and reputation could make it a hat trick in November.

While “LWYMMD” is #1 on iTunes, Dua Lipa’s “New Rules” (Warner Bros.) is outperforming it on Spotify’s U.K. Top 50. Still, the latter slips to #2 today, followed by P!nk with “What About Us” (RCA) at #3, “Feels” (Columbia) by Calvin Harris at #4 and “Friends” (Def Jam/Polydor/Republic) by Justin Bieber and Bloodpop at #5.

Over on the Official Album midweek stats, another U.S. act looks set for their U.K. #1 debut as Queens of the Stone Age is on course to improve their previous #2 peak with Villains (Matador). The album is currently tripling the numbers of closest competitor, The War on Drugs’ A Deeper Understanding (Atlantic). Concluding an all-American Top 3 this week is Massachusetts trio PVRIS, whose second album All We Know Of Heaven, All We Need Of Hell (Rise) starts at #3.

Further down, former Westlife member Shane Filan is at #5 with Love Always (Ocean Wave) and Fifth Harmony enter at #7 with their third and self-titled set (Syco).
