SPOTTED ON NEW MUSIC FRIDAY PLAYLIST

Aaron Carter, who has not released an album since early in the G.W. Bush administration, returns with “Sooner or Later” (Z/Sony) on Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist. The playlist does not seem to be taking one side or another here on Inauguration Day—“Changing,” “I Give You Power” and “Ordinary World” are some of the titles—but there is one we can relate to: “High for Hours.”

Among the songs on today’s New Music Friday playlist are: John Mayer’s “Changing” (Columbia), Lady Antebellum’s “You Look Good” (Capitol Nashville), Kid Ink’s “In My Way” (RCA), Arcade Fire f/Mavis Staples “I Give You Power” (Infinite Content/Capitol), Joy Williams’ cover of the Duran Duran hit “Ordinary World” (Sensibility), Billy Porter’s “Edelweiss” (Sony), Train’s “Drink Up” (Sunken Forest/Columbia), Nikki Lane’s “Jackpot” (New West), Spoon’s “Hot Thoughts” (Matador), Foxygen’s “Follow the Leader” (JagJaguwar), FOREVER ANTiPOP’s “Finessin the Rhythm” (Interscope) and J. Cole’s “High for Hours” (Dreamville/Roc Nation/Interscope).
