Virgin's Bastille dropped their much-anticipated sophomore set, Wild World, today. In support of said release, the alt/rockers popped by the Today Show for a celebratory performance. Seen being graced by that iconic NYC skyline (and Capitol man Scott Greer's iconic beard) are the band and Red Light Management's Will Botwin (seen far left and next to Greer).
Watch this morning's effervescent performance of current single "Good Grief" here. Of course, they also delivered with an equally energetic performance of breakout hit "Pompeii"; that's here.
"Good Grief" broke into the Top 5 at Alternative radio this week. At press time, Wild World was #2 on iTunes' overall album chart. The set serves as a follow-up to 2013's Bad Blood, which has sold more than four million albums worldwide to date, along with 11m singles.
Earlier this week, the Grammy-nominated band lived it up at an album release party/concert at the iHeartRadio Theater in Burbank. And the next day, they performed on Kimmel's outdoor stage (click to watch), before appearing again in Hollywood later in the night for what they call a "WWCOMMS pop-up experience," an interactive event and thematic store. Another pop-up will take place tonight in NYC; London's is set for 9/13.
On 9/30, they'll kick off their Born To Be Wild World North American Mini Tour, which includes stops at the intimate venues they first played when they came to the States, the ones that gave them their start and helped propel them into the limelight. Of course, those gigs sold out minutes after going on sale.
In sum, Bastille is clearly not busy at all.
While in L.A., HITS' own Samantha Hissong somehow tricked Botwin and Capitol SVP Alternative Promotion Gary Gorman into thinking she worked somewhere more respectable than HITS (which is anywhere but HITS, by the way) and snagged the following photos. We apologize for the harassment on her behalf. (No, we don't).
