The New York Post is reporting that Roc Nation's Rihanna has signed a $25 million sponsorship deal with Samsung for her album and tour. The Post's Claire Atkinson says the mega-pact is the result of a seven-month negotiation process.
Atkinson further notes that "last-minute tweaks" to RiRi's forthcoming ANTI set delayed the deal's completion.
The deal would ostensibly have Rihanna helping promote Samsung's Galaxy phones and other products and put out videos and other content to raise the profile of its Milk Music streaming-radio service.
Roc Nation head Jay Z, of course, famously put out his Magna Carta Holy Grail via a unique deal with electronics giant in 2013, taking $5 million and giving away an estimated 1.2m copies of the album. Photos of the artist-mogul emerging from Samsung HQ recently sent industry speculation into overdrive.
One question among many is how the deal would affect any exclusivity Jay Z's struggling Tidal service can claim on her material.
What's next for Rihanna, who has RN not only as her label but also as her management? Stay tuned.
