Born to be Gaga

BORN TO BE GAGA: There she goes again. The cultural phenomenon that is Lady Gaga is back causing controversy with the black-and-white cover for her much-anticipated Born This Way album, which depicts the pop star as a motorcycle with her head as the handlebars. Gaga revealed the cover over the weekend on Twitter: “Can’t believe it’s here. So happy+free to finally share this w you.” Meanwhile, her new single, “Judas,” which many are saying is a rewrite of “Bad Romance,” is also pushing buttons, with lyrics like "Jesus is my virtue, and Judas is the demon I cling to… I’m just a holy fool/ Oh baby he’s so cruel/But I’m still in love with Judas, baby.” In the as-yet-to-be released video, Lady reportedly dresses up as Mary Magdalene. Bill Donohue, President of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, says it’s no mistake Gaga released the new song just a week before Easter. "She is trying to rip off Christian idolatry to shore up her talentless, mundane and boring performances.” What a spoil sport. (4/18p)
