Sofia and Phoenix guy get hitched

FOLD IT, FOLD IT, FOLD IT: Sofia Coppola and Thomas Mars got hitched Saturday in Bernalda, Italy, where her great-grandfather was born. The ceremony took place in the garden of a palazzo her dad, Francis Ford Coppola, had renovated in the center of town, planning to turn it into a luxury boutique hotel, mayor Leonardo Chiruzzi told the AP. Chiruzzi, who performed the civil ceremony, said the wedding was simple but beautiful. "If they wanted to do a Hollywood wedding, they wouldn't have done it here," Chiruzzi said by phone on Friday. "[They] chose to do it here because it's here—it's here that is beautiful." Guests included Johnny Depp, aunt Talia Shire and brother Roman. (8/29a)
