Movie Box Office

PUSS TOPS TIMBERLAKE, DEPP: DreamWorks Animation’s Puss in Boots topped the weekend movie box office with a haul of $34 million in almost 4,000 theatres, easily besting Paramount’s Paranormal Activity 3, which added another $18m to its two-week total of $81 million. Fox’s sci-fi movie In Time, marking Justin Timberlake’s first leading role, pulled in $12m in 3,000 theatres, while Paramount’s Footloose added another $5.4m to its three-week total of $38m. FilmDistrict’s Hunter S. Thompson adaptation, The Rum Diary, starring Johnny Depp, failed to intoxicate moviegoers, with a paltry $5 million in 2,272 theaters. (10/31a)
