Chimes of Freedom Amnesty International's Dylan salute

LOVE THAT BOB: On Jan. 24, Amnesty International will release the Fontana-distribbed four-disc collection Chimes of Freedom: The Songs of Bob Dylan Honoring 50 Years of Amnesty International. The collection was executive produced by industry legend Jeff Ayeroff and Julie Yannatta, who was Jeff’s GM at Shangri-La Music. The pair spearheaded Instant Karma: The Amnesty International Campaign to Save Darfur, a 2007 collection of newly recorded covers of John Lennon solo compositions. "This album is a powerful fusion of the music community's respect for Amnesty's life-affirming work and for Bob Dylan's enduring brilliance," said Ayeroff and Yannatta, presumably in tight two-part harmony. "We are proud to have worked with Amnesty to produce this remarkable project." All of the artists, session musicians, arrangers, engineers, producers and studios worked pro-bono. This project was A-list all the way: close to 30 tracks were mixed gratis by Bob Clearmountain, while Gateway’s Bob Ludwig and Adam Ayan donated their mastering services. Seventy songs were recorded especially for this release, and several others are previously unreleased. (11/23a)
