YOUR PG-RATED WEAKEND BOX OFFICE: The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 pulled in an additional $16.9 million, enough for #1 on the second-slowest weekend of the year. After 17 days in theaters, the Summit Entertainment release, which averaged $4177 in 4,046 theaters, has racked up $247.3 million in North America, an impressive figure, though it’s still $8 million lower than the $255.4 tallied by 2009’s The Twilight Saga: New Moon during the same period of time. Martin Scorsese’s 3D movie Hugo, showing on just 1800 screens, averaging a solid $4144, pulled in $7.6m, putting it at #3 behind The Muppets ($11.2m, $3256 average, 3440 theaters). Two animated films filled out the top 5: Arthur Christmas ($7.35m, $2177, 3376) and Happy Feet Two ($6m, $1697, 3536). (12/5a)
