POPULARITY CONTEST: Katy Perry was five for seven at the People's Choice Awards, making her last night’s biggest winner—apart from the L.A. Clippers, that is. Among her wins in this mass-appeal competition: Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Tour Headliner, Favorite Song ("E.T.") and Favorite Music Video, for her hit "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" She even snagged an award for her acting as a guest star in the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother. Perry pulled out of her planned attendance on the show following her split with Russell Brand. Underdog Demi Lovato won the popular vote for Favorite Pop Artist, vanquishing Perry, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga and Rihanna—though she somehow managed to refrain from Tebowing after her victory—while Bruno Mars, less surprisingly, wound up as Lovato’s male equivalent. Gaga’s Born This Way got Favorite Album, Maroon 5 was voted Favorite Band and Rihanna got even with Chris Brown in the battle for Favorite R&B Artist. (1/12a)
