DigSin Digs In

ABSOLUTELY FREE: Former Yahoo! Music and CMT exec Jay Frank announced the launch of his new record label DigSin at Midem. The idea behind it? All the music it releases will be free. Subscribers were sent the label’s first single, electropop act NNXT’s “Drink Txting," today. DigSin will focus on single song releases from new artists with an eye towards maximizing the listening audience. The company is partnering with advertisers and other outlets to expose the music as widely as possible. The label recently signed a multi-year deal with digital distributor INgrooves. DigSin subscribers will receive all releases a day before the songs are available through traditional outlets. Other signings include Connie Lim and Bronze Radio Return. Frank is the author of two analytic books about digital music, Futurehit.DNA and Hack Your Hit. The company is based in Nashville. (1/30p)
