Mintz Passes Away

ALAN MINTZ, 58, one-time manager of Herbie Hancock, VP Content Development/Head of A&R for Starbucks Entertainment and SVP at Epic Records, has passed away in Nashville from a “rare and aggressive form of leukemia.” Mintz was a senior partner at the law firm of Selverne, Mandelbaum & Mintz, where he specialized in music and new technology, and at Ziffren Brittenham before that. He started Alan Mintz Personal Management company, then became a Senior Personal Manager/Executive Producer at Red Light, where he handled Hancock and Carly Simon. At the time of his death, he was an Associate Professor at Middle State University and President of the Bounty Group, an artist management and music industry consultancy company. He graduated University of California, Berkeley, with a B.A. in Mass Communications and UCLA with a J.D. in Law. (5/3p)
