TOBY OR NOT TO BE: Republic Records continues its promotion department restructuring by upping Toby Russell to Vice President Top 40 Promotion, it was announced by founder and CEO Monte Lipman. Russell was previously Sr. Director of Top 40 Radio since 2010. He recently directed the successful Top 40 campaigns for Gotye, Alex Clare, PSY and Austin Mahone, among others. Commented Lipman: "Toby has consistently delivered for our entire roster. His leadership and determination for breaking new acts is inspiring. " Added Russell: "As a true music lover, I consider myself lucky to introduce and expose new music to radio and the public at large. It beats exposing myself." Russell joined the label in 2006 as SE Reg. Director of Promotion, rising to head of Triple A Promotion, spearheading campaigns for Amy Winehouse and Colbie Caillat, among others. Prior to working at the label, he was a founding partner of CO5 Music. He also served as East Coast Label Director for Ultimatum Music. Toby started his career in Nashville at Columbia/Epic Records, then moved to EMI Music Distribution as a Marketing Representative. He will be based out of Atlanta and NYC. (12/10p)
