WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL? There’s a new player in the publishing sector, and it goes by the snappy moniker Big Deal Music. The indie pubco is being launched by longtime Chrysalis Music colleagues Kenny MacPherson, Dave Ayers and Jamie Cerreta, as they join forces with Michael McDonald and his Vinegar Hill/Propel Music publishing operation, headed by Pete Robinson. McDonald’s primary focus will remain Mick Management, but the Big Deal alliance will provide the platform for a dynamic, broad-based rights organization employing a service-based model, according to the principals. The company will have offices in L.A., N.Y. and Nashville. More details as we get ’em. (12/18a)
