Fox to bring back 24

YOU GO BACK JACK, DO IT AGAIN: Fox is bringing back 24 for a 12-episode run in the summer of 2014. Kiefer Sutherland will return as Jack Bauer in 24: Live Another Day, as the storyline jumps several years ahead from the show’s final season, which wrapped up in 2010, nine years and 192 episodes after first going on the air. The network has had recent success with “event series” like The Following—shows whose compressed narrative arcs are patterned after cable series’ seasons. "The response to 24 is unlike anything I have ever experienced as an actor before," Sutherland said in a statement on the 24 Facebook page. "To have the chance to reunite with the character, Jack Bauer, is like finding a lost friend. The story ideas from [executive producer] Howard Gordon are exciting and fresh, and will not disappoint. Great thanks to 20th Century Fox Television, Imagine Television and the Fox network for this opportunity. Make no mistake, my goal is to knock your socks off. See you soon." Ironically, Fox canceled the Sutherland-starring series Touch just last week. (5/14a)
