Bids due on Elvis catalog

IT'S NOW OR NEVER: Core Media Group’s Elvis Presley assets and its Muhammad Ali trademarks are expected to be sold within the next week, the New York Post reports, citing sources. Bids were due today for “Project Blue Moon,” which includes a half interest in Elvis’ music publishing catalog. It’s possible this treasure trove could draw bids as high as $100m, writes Claire Atkinson, adding that Marty Bandier’s Sony/ATV and David Schulof’s G2 Investment Group are working on a joint bid for the assets. Other bidders are believed to be fashion house Iconix Group, which markets Madonna’s Material Girl line. None of the above provided confirmation or comment. According to Atkinson’s sources, UMG has shown interest but has not submitted a bid at this point. She also writes that John Branca, who knows a thing or two about such matters through his experience as co-executor of the Michael Jackson estate, advised Core Media on the sale. (8/15a)
