NUCLEAR FUSION: Troy Carter and Steve Barnett are in business together. The manager/entrepreneur and the Capitol Music Group chieftain have confirmed the formation of Atom Factory Music, an offshoot of Carter’s entertainment and technology company Atom Factory. The first acts signed to the joint venture are New York’s Basic Vacation and L.A.-based based The Ceremonies, both of them alternative bands. “We want Capitol to be a home for the most bold and innovative thinkers in music and entertainment,” Barnett asserted, “and Troy certainly fits the bill. He’s highly creative and has proven time and again that he can harness modern technology, social media and branding to effectively propel artists to the top.” Carter recounted a conversation with Lucian Grainge in which they discussed the possibility of forming a label and the UMG ruler’s vision for a revitalized Capitol, noting that “The assembled group has exceeded all my expectations, and I'm looking forward to getting started with Steve, Michelle Jubelirer and the rest of the Capitol family." Jubelirer described Carter as “an inspiring entrepreneur who’s developed an impressive team of young disruptors that are helping to shape the future of music and entertainment. They are always on the leading edge, developing new and innovative ways to connect artists with fans. We’re all thrilled about Atom Factory’s initial artists, and welcome Troy and his team to the Capitol Music Group.” (8/21a)
