The British rock band will celebrate the Oct. 24 release of its new Capitol Records album, Mylo Xyloto, with a series of
Coldplay will also appear on The Colbert Report (10/19), the Today Show (10/21) and The Ellen DeGeneres Show (10/27).
Starting today, the iTunes Store will exclusively stream one song from Mylo Xyloto each day leading up to the album's release. The week of free song streams from the album kicks off with "Princess of China” f/Rihanna, today. The album can be pre-ordered on iTunes now and the single "

“Like 2008's horizon-broadening Viva La Vida, Mylo Xyloto draws from an expansive palette,” said SPIN while Rolling Stone praised it as “[Coldplay’s] most ambitious yet…a bear-hug record for a bear-market world.”
The band appeared on CBS Sunday Morning yesterday and has been the subject of feature articles in Entertainment Weekly and the N.Y. Times over the weekend.
Chris Martin told the Times' Ben Sisario the album title describes "a kind of mythical character signifying the wonder of artistic inspiration.
“Music comes from a place we don’t know,” he continued. “It sort of comes through the fingers and toes. So we came up with the idea of, what if you had musical digits, like xylo toes.” As for "Mylo," he said simply, “It’s just a great name...for anything.”
Mylo Xyloto will be available in digital, CD and vinyl formats and as a special limited edition Pop-Up album. It was produced by Markus Dravs, Daniel Green and Rik Simpson, with “enoxification” and additional composition by Brian Eno.
